My name is Mandy, but most of my students and athletes have called me Ms. Risch or "Coach" for the past 15 years.

 

I went to Alma College, in the middle of Michigan, and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. I earned Minors in Mathematics and Spanish. While there, I played volleyball for the Alma Scots. Walking onto a college team and having a successful career is one of my favorite accomplishments. 

 

While in college, I was hired to teach Spanish to elementary school students at multiple levels within a local private school. I was given an amazing opportunity to develop curriculum and create my own learning tools in order to succeed in that role for four years.

After teaching third through fifth grades in three different school districts and later serving as a High School Academic Interventionist for a time in recent years, I left the education arena. Since I love challenges and have been relentlessly pursuing my own happiness, I have worked in many roles in my continuing adventures. Most recently, I became a paralegal and spent time working for a law firm.

 

For more than twenty years, one thing has remained consistent in my life: tutoring. I have been tutoring independently since I was in high school. I have helped students after school, assisted with homework in the stands after volleyball games, tutored in families' homes, and am currently working with students online.

On a personal note, I am a passionate animal lover and prioritize giving my dogs, cats and rabbit the best life possible. They are all rescues and I take pride in giving them each a wonderful, cozy, carefree life.

We live in the middle of the lower peninsula of Michigan. I am open to tutoring students in the area, in the state, or from any state where my tutoring can be helpful.

I believe that all students learn a little bit differently, that facing challenges creates resilience and that developing a hard-working, "bring it on" mentality will take students anywhere they strive to go.
